How to Create and Restore Backups in cPanel

Create full backups of your hosting account and restore them quickly if something goes wrong.

Creating a Full Backup

  1. cPanel → Files → Backup Wizard
  2. Click Back Up
  3. Select Full Backup
  4. Choose Home Directory as the destination
  5. Enter your email address for notification
  6. Click Generate Backup
  7. Download the .tar.gz file when notified

Restoring from a Backup

  1. cPanel → Backup Wizard → Restore
  2. Choose what to restore: Home Directory, MySQL Databases, or Email Forwarders
  3. Upload your backup file
  4. Click Restore

Restoring a Database Only

cPanel → phpMyAdmin → Select your database → click Import → upload your .sql file → click Go.

Tip: Store your backup files on Google Drive or Dropbox — never rely only on your hosting account as backup storage.
